The New Adventures of Winston and London

Today I am going to introduce you to these two angels, Winston and London. Yes, they are dogs who are angels in my life. The little one on the right is London. The bigger one on the left is Winston. Both of these are rescue dogs who have come into my life and stolen my heart.

London came into my life quite awhile ago. I had a shih-tzu named Legend who was the most precious little dog. I had him for 16 years and then old age took him away. I honestly thought I would never have another dog again. When he died, my heart broke and for at least 1 month, I could not stop crying any time I thought about him. Then one day, I decided I was ready and contacted a friend of mine who was helping to rescue dogs. I asked her if they ever got small dogs to keep me in mind and she said we do have one who would be perfect for you. The rest is history.

London is probably the most laid back dog ever. Most people cannot believe how chill this little dog is. A lot of little dogs are yappy and he is not one of those. You honestly never know he is around he is so laid back. When he gets nervous or scared, he freezes like a statue. Some dogs shake and get scared, not London, he becomes a statue. He has been with me through many things and was with me when I moved to Auburn. He has seen a lot!

Next we have Winston. Winston was a little bit of a surprise. You see, London is not a big walking dog. Like I said, he is chill and I wanted a buddy to walk with and I began to look at larger dogs. I had friends tell me I was crazy and I would regret it. Then one day, I was on facebook and there was this precious little puppy that had been dumped on the side of a busy highway in the middle of winter.

He had been rescued by a friend of my moms and they were wanting to find him a home. I knew that he was meant to be mine from that second. Now, let me start by saying, I had no idea what having a puppy entailed. London was an adult dog of 2 years when I rescued him. I thought I was prepared, turns out, I was nowhere near prepared for the life a puppy!

When I first got Winston, he loved the mud, he loved it a lot! I would rinse him off the best I could, but well, you can see from the above pic, it was not an easy task. Every time I would let him out, he would head for the mud hole. I would get the hose and rinse him off and repeat.

He began to take over the furniture. People would tell me to keep my dog off the furniture. Really? I am too tired for that, so furniture covers were bought and placed on everything his body laid on in order to keep the dog smell down and the dirt to a minimum.

Also, if I were to remove this cover, you would see a big hole in the cushion. Yes, a big hole This is an older couch, but still, I was not quite ready to get a new one. Looks like I had to put that on the list! Life with Winston is never dull. He is only close to two years old, so he still has some puppy in him. Some people think I love him more than London, but that is not true. Winston is like that child who just requires more and poor London just kind of gets pushed aside. I don’t mean to, it just happens that way sometimes.

So, my life is anything but normal with these two dogs. Winston is into everything and I have to watch him constantly. London just sits back and watches it unfold. Winston has been great for me for walking. You see last year, I just went through some craziness and gained some weight and just felt like a slug! I finally realized how much Winston needed his walks. We now go for walks at least 5-6 days a week for 2 miles. He loves them and they make him a much better and calmer dog.

I still have to watch my trash, because he pulls everything and anything out of it and chews on it. He loves chewing gum and I cannot leave it laying around or else he dives right in. I own stock in candles to keep my house smelling good and have some great scents to share with you soon. I also am into trying to get these dogs healthier. You see, Winston needs to shed some weight, so we are both watching it together. I am going to make homemade dog treats and you are about to see Winston and London more and more on the blog, along with their adventures.

I always knew that dogs were great company. I grew up with them, but my parents would never let us have them in the house. They were more outdoor dogs. They are fantastic company and great friends. They are there for you and guess what??!! They never talk back!!! They love you when you are fat, when you are thin, when you have a bad day, they are there. Dogs are just the best and I thank God I have been able to have them in my life. One more thing, they are great at determining good and bad guys to date. Just one growl and I am not seeing that guy again! If you have never had a dog, you have no idea what you are missing.

Stay Tuned! The adventures of Winston and London will be back!

  1. Oh my word! I have a Winston, too! He’s an English Cream Golden so what else could he be named! I, too, thought I would never have another dog after my last Golden… so glad I was pushed hard by dear friends to jump in again!
