Dylan’s Candy Bar is like a Real Life Candyland!

Does anyone remember the game Candyland??? I remember the first time I played it. I wanted to go to Candyland. Laugh all you want, but that game was my favorite. It had the bright colors and everything had a name of a candy. There was Candy Cane Forest and Gumdrop Mountain, which made me want to just get a big bag of candy and dive in! I kid you not, I love candy!

Willy Wonka, my favorite part was the beginning of Wonka land. The chocolate river, eating the licorice flowers and the cream filling on the toadstools. I wanted to go there. I know my love of candy is not the healthiest thing to have, and I am about to really cut back on my sugar intake, but that still does not stop my love for it.

The first time I heard of Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York, I was in heaven. I remember seeing some documentary about how Ralph Lauren’s daughter did not want to be in the clothing industry, but loved candy. She loved it so much, she opened a candy store. I remember being in heaven watching it. I told my mom that if I ever had the chance, I was going there when I was in New York.

Fast forward several years, my mom and I go to New York. I bought a book of the sites to see while there. It was more of a retail sites to see, but it had some great places to see. I stumbled upon Dylan’s Candy Bar and put it down as a must see destination. When we got to New York, I mapped out our plan based on location and on the third day, I penciled in my destination. Finally the day arrived and my mom and I got a cab to take us right there.

I remember pulling up and just getting excited from looking at the exterior. We walked in and yes, I was in heaven. The first floor that we walked in on had bins and bins of every kind of candy you could think of. This is where you would scoop out your favorites into a bag or some other cute container and then it would be weighed for your total. It was so incredible!

We began to walk around and noticed stairs going down. These were not just any stairs. No, they were white with candy all over them. Not actual candy, but it looked like someone just tossed a handful of candy on each stair. Once we got to the bottom, that was a completely different place. In addition to the fun candy, there were some novelty items, such as tees and things like that. There was the candy from the different decades, which was neat to see. I even saw some of my old favorites that I grew up with!  It was fun to explore!

Lastly was the third floor. This is an ice cream shop. You can get those colossal shakes that everyone has or ice cream or some other frozen concoction. It was also fun and whimsical and was just the icing on the cake.

I know that I have a sugar problem. I know it is not the healthiest thing to eat, however, I love Dylan’s Candy Bar and will go there every single time I go to New York. It makes you feel like a kid again and just puts a smile on your face when you walk through the door. Be sure to check it out if you get the chance to hit New York! If you love candy or if you just want to feel like a kid again, it is a must see!

So, I walk into Target this Christmas and I see a table that is all decked out in Dylan’s Candy Bar!!! I was so excited. Yes, I can order this stuff from online, but how fun is it to walk into a local store and see my beloved candy from my beloved store. I immediately plucked up several of the items, which I have pictured below. They were all so yummy and I went back to get some more, and I was too late. Everything was gone! Be sure to check out your local Target to see what they have or get online and order some of the fun!

Hope everyone had a great Thursday!
