Striped Dresses + Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

Dress: Listicle (Similar) | Shoes: Loft (Similar) | Earrings: Target

Welcome to the month of May!!! Where has the time gone already??? Anyway, I am in love with the striped t-shirt dress that seems to be super hot this season. I think you can dress it up or down and just wear it so many ways. I love this one!! I got it at a boutique and it is from the brand Listicle. It has the cute flutter sleeves and a little tie in the back at the neck. Here is the problem, I cannot find it anywhere else!!! So, I have linked a similar stye and will have more at the end of this blog.

I got this dress at a boutique that mainly carries juniors sizes. These do not fit me the best and I usually have to size up. I also need to add that I never try on clothes in the store, like ever! So I got this one, picked up a large and thought it would be fine. I did not even try it on until I was getting ready to get these pictures made, when I discovered it was actually huge on me. I was so wrong about the size and should have tried it on.

I think as women, we can either under or overestimate our sizes, based on our esteem issues. I know that for me, I always head to the larger sizes, because I just have this vision that I need to wear clothes as large as possible. The only problem is, many times when the clothes are too large, they can make you look too large. This is not good at all. I have had people show me pictures and say you look so much thinner now. The problem is, I was actually much thinner during that time when the picture was taken. I had the wrong clothes on. These clothes made me look much bigger that I actually was because I had bought a larger size, thinking that was what I needed.

Now, I have pinched in the waist a little, but if you really look at this picture, this dress can give a shapeless look. Not good! I should have tried on the medium! I am pretty sure, it would have fit! This is my lesson on trying on clothes and not always reaching for the larger size.

I also like these shoes. They tie up at the ankle and are the pretty blush pink that is so hot right now. I got these at Loft a couple of years ago, but I have linked a few similar styles. I think that the ankle tie shoes can really elongate and show off your shapely legs! The last thing about this outfit are my statement earrings. They are from Target and I think they add just enough to this outfit without completely overpowering it.

Where is this picture taken? It is taken inside Toomers Drugs in Auburn, Al. Toomers drugs used to be a full on drugstore, but has scaled back to only carrying a few toiletry items. It is best known for its hand-scooped ice cream and fresh squeezed lemonade. This stuff is made fresh and has the perfect amount of sweet and sour. I love it and you can ask for it to be “extra sweet”, if you don’t want that much sour at all. It also has a sandwich place in the back of the store where you can get a homemade grilled cheese sandwich. If you ever get to Auburn, a stop here is a must!

  1. Love the dress and super model Kara Silvers!!! Great gift ideas!!! It is true about sizes-I have had that experience-actually buying too big-but it is hard when you have a fuller figure on top-that is always a problem in getting the right fit.
