How to Build a Summer Work from Home Capsule Wardrobe
So, this just happened. You are now working from home. Whether you have always dreamed of this or the current situation in the world changed up your work location, it is here. Now, I am not here to give advice about working from home. I have done that already in this post here and if you need those tips for survival, be sure to check it out.
However, I am here to give you suggestions on what to wear. It is so easy to just slip on your yoga pants and tee and workout in between conference calls and just never change because you are on a roll with work or you are just not feeling it. But you do want to have a wardrobe plan in place because this will get very old!
Where do you start with building this work from the home wardrobe? Well, let’s start with the season we are in, summer. You want items that are weather appropriate and quite honestly that are okay if you need to run out really quick or even make that dreaded zoom call appearance. You also want comfort. I mean, you are working from home, gone are the power suits and dresses, you can have casual Friday every single day!
The first thing I looked at was the pants. I wanted casual pants that were not so restricting. I opted for jeggings and joggers. These are two styles of pants that can be dressed up or down. Need to run out really quick? Toss on a graphic tee with a cardigan and you are ready to go! Staying in all day? casual tee and you are good! Here are some of my favorite jeggings and joggers for you to look at:
Next, let’s talk tops! I like casual and roomy. I go for oversized tees and sweatshirts. I like the sweatshirts that are made of a thinner material that kind of hang off one shoulder. These are perfect for air-conditioned homes and are so comfy! I also look at plain tees in neutral colors like white, black, and gray for starters. I might even toss in a couple of graphic tees! These are easy to toss on with the pants and if you need to run out, you can grab your denim jacket if you want to change up the look at little. Here are some of my favorite tops for you to look at:
One other thing to add is a tee shirt dress. These are also roomy and comfy and can make you feel a little bit more dressed up. I love a good tee shirt dress and you can get them in so many different colors to add to your wardrobe!
Lastly, I have a couple of things I keep on hand for when I might need to run a couple of errands. You know, if I am going to have a luncheon that is more casual, I can wear the tee shirt dress, toss on a denim jacket, and maybe even a pair of sandals and I am ready to go! I also like to wear sneakers. These are nothing but easy in terms of styling. You can wear them with anything and all of the above outfits are perfect candidates for wearing sneakers. Here are my favorites:
Here are some pictures that show the different styles I have created. As you can see, from these few pieces, I was able to create quite a few outfits. So, that is a good place to start. A capsule wardrobe is the first place to get a wardrobe started. Once you have a capsule wardrobe, then you know what you have so when you go shopping, you know what is worth it to add to your wardrobe.
Let me know what you think of this and be sure to let me know what else you think is a necessity for a work from home capsule wardrobe for summer!
Later!
