Books for Christmas

I am an avid reader! I mean it! I just love to read! I really love to read chick lit, which I refer to as fun and lighthearted books that just make reading so easy. You know the types of books where you don’t want to put them down!!!??

I have read books that I picked up and could not put down. I would stay up late and on every free second of every day, I read that book. Forget about television, I wanted to read. I would get books that were fun to read and that left me with a smile on my face when I was done. One of all my favorite books was Gone with the Wind. I had seen the movie, well, at least a million times. I looked at the book several times, but it is like 1000 pages and the print is tiny, and well, I just knew it would take a long time to read. Then one summer, I picked it up and began to read it. I could not put it down! It was literally a thousand times better than the movie! I could not even look at the movie in the same way again! So when people say to read the book before watching the movie, I know that they meant this with this book.

In addition to chick lit, I like to read spiritual books and self help books. These are books that truly help me to be a better person and they are so inspirational. I love a good self help book. A book where I have folded down each page and gotten my highlighter and pen and marked it up a million ways. These are books that I learn from and that I like to go back and refer to again and again.

In the past several years, I have discovered coffee table books. These are books that do have some information written in them, but they also have phenomenal pictures. These are pictures that are so beautiful and so colorful and just make me want to take the page out and have it framed. They are big and thick and so full of history or knowledge or both. When I find a great coffee table book, I must add it to my collection.

Books are also fantastic gifts. I like to give them because I think that they have such meaning. The person will always look at the book and have the memory of the person who gave it to them and it is especially meaningful if the book has memories tied to it. For example, my brother went to Auburn and loves it like I do, so I like to get him interesting books about Auburn that I find and hear about.

I have linked some of my favorite books below. I have linked some of my favorite chick lit, coffee table books and self help/spiritual books. Check them out and see if they would be a great gift for someone on your list. If not, keep a good book in mind for that hard to buy for person. You never know, it might be the most meaningful gift they ever receive.
