Every woman needs a little black dress in her wardrobe. I also think that a little black velvet dress is needed for the winter months. I love velvet during the winter, so getting it in a dress was just a bonus. You can dress up velvet or even make it more casual, anything seems to go with it.
This dress is a dressier style. I found it at Target and unfortunately, it is sold out. I do have a similar style linked below, so be sure to look for it. Anyway, this is a dressier style of a black velvet dress. It has long sleeves with a little puff at the shoulders and the length hits right above the knee. This is a dress that would be worn for a more formal occasion. I might even wear it to church. For a more formal occasion or church, I would style it with high heel shoes, great statement jewelry, and fun accessories, like the clutch in the picture. This is definitely a simple dress that jewelry and accessories can change the look of.
There are more casual styles of velvet dresses. These are styles like this one, that can be worn for everyday occasions. You can wear a style like this to work. Just add a blazer or cardigan and some more sensible shoes like booties, and you are ready to go to work. Take it to night by ditching the blazer or cardigan and changing shoes and adding fun accessories. Velvet is not just a material that can be worn at night, so don’t just think of it as a “special occasion” or “formal” material.
