Happy Two Years to The Stylin Educator!!!!!

Happy Birthday to The Stylin Educator!!! It has been two years since I started this crazy adventure of blogging. And what a two years it has been!!! I started out with all of these goals and dreams in mind and it took awhile for them to happen and I am still working on some of them.

I thought when I started this blog, companies would be knocking down my door to get me to promote their products. I had a niche and I was just all about it. It didn’t quite happen like that. I was offered a great deal of free products, but nothing really paid. You see, when you put all of the time into crafting a blog and paying a photographer and then do social media promotions, you kind of want to get paid! I thought for sure that would happen, but it did not quite work like that. It was frustrating, but I still got tons of product!!!

I looked back at my first blog posts and I mean, OMG!!!! I have grown so much. You see I compared myself way too much with other bloggers. I mean these women had been doing this five years before I started and I had a friend who told me to go back and look at their earlier posts. I did and  you know what? They were just as rough as mine were. I mean, my pictures rock, but my content was severely lacking!

I really did not know how to be myself in my posts. I was so worried about having affiliate links in my posts and getting accepted to the Like to Know It platform, I sounded like a glorified salesperson! I finally realized that I needed to go back to why I started this in the first place and so what if I am not like the other bloggers! Because you know what? I am not like the others at all!!!

The reason I started this blog was my passion for fashion. I always got compliments about my clothes and thought I would share all of my information with my followers. I would make it easy for them to shop my looks and you know what else? I would educate women about skincare and beauty products. I am working on some rebranding. While I love posting my outfits, I am going to do more about styling for what you like and what looks good on you. I am going to have accessory of the week, Friday finds more regularly and beauty product of the week. This is what I started doing and I am going back to that.

I am going back to educating people about shopping and clothes and what looks good and what doesn’t! This is why I started this in the first place! I might even start posting about clothing designers to bring in my true love of fashion. So, be on the look out!

These two years have been tough, but I have made some discoveries and I plan on being true to myself. No more comparing and I am going to keep on keeping on. Who knows? Maybe in the next six months, you will see this be my only job!

Hope everyone has had a great week so far. Mine has been a little rough. My little cat, Aubie, left this earth this week. He was 20 years old and I know he had a good life. He had been getting weaker and I thought when I went to the beach last week, he would not be alive when I got back. He was alive and it looked like he might be around a little while longer. He had eaten every bit of food I left and used the litterbox and I just knew he was going to be around for a couple more months. But just like that, he went downhill so fast. He quit eating and just seemed to be not doing good. Everyone wanted me to have him put down, but I kept praying for God to just let him die here with me close by. I was actually thinking of calling the vet, when he did finally go. I was actually so thankful that he got to die here in the house versus at the vet with me bawling in front of strangers.

I never was much of a cat person, but I worked with an animal rescue a long time ago and I just fell in love. My mom found him in the middle of the road at 8 weeks old! I have had him his whole life. I will probably not own another cat, to be honest, I am burned out on cleaning out litterboxes! But I did love this little cat. Now I have my dogs, Winston and London, to keep me company. If you have been following me for awhile, you know that Winston is quite the handful! I know that Aubie is in heaven running around and that one day we will meet again!

This look I have is going to be posted in a more broken down way over the next few days, but I am going to post the look here. The dress is Umgee, which is a fun boutique brand and I have scoured the internet and cannot find this style, so I have linked a few similar ones and some other fun Umgee styles for you to look at.
