I Tried Facial Yoga for a Month
We have all tried yoga for our body, or at least heard of it, but just recently I was introduced to facial yoga. I was scrolling through Facebook one day and this ad popped up. The ad showed a woman who looked quite youthful and hardly had any wrinkles on her face! Her face looked young and firm and full, unlike someone who was aging and losing collagen and firmness. She was 53 and looked at least 43, maybe even younger. Her secret and the reason for her ad were facial yoga.
I was curious and so I opened up the ad to head to her website to read more about it. It turns out that facial yoga helps to awaken blood flow to the face and helps the muscles to retain more of their shape. When blood is flowing more regularly to the muscles of the face, that helps to increase circulation, which helps to decrease wrinkles.
I was intrigued. I wanted to sign up, but it was quite pricey, so I opted for a small 30 day workout for one part of the face, my nasolabial folds and smile lines. The first workout was not that bad, but I am not going to lie, there were a couple exercises that were a little bit of a struggle. I kept on going for the 30 full days, well, almost 30, I skipped a few days here and there but stopped when I got to the last workout. I liked what I saw, so I googled facial yoga and found several different workouts for other parts of my face, such as crows feet, forehead and neck and underneath the chin. All the areas that give away just how old you are!
I have been incorporating all of these workouts together and have enjoyed doing it. It takes about 10-15 minutes a day to do them and I can actually feel them working. As a matter of fact, I even had sore muscles one day after my workout!
Now, you have to do some pretty crazy things with your face. You make faces and even noises that would have most people running for the hills. You might want to start out by doing these in private without anyone around. Once you have done them a few times, it is amazing how second nature they come and feel.
Now, here comes the honest part, I still have some wrinkles. I look at my forehead and they are still there. They are not bad, but they are still there and so to keep them at a minimum, I am constantly watching my facial expressions. My chin looks good and so do my nasolabial folds, but they are not gone. Meaning I still have some of the lines there that a younger person would not have.
The thing with facial yoga that is like any other workout, when you stop doing it, it shows. The negative with facial yoga is that everyone can see when you stop a lot faster! I have still tried to keep it up, but I do find that I am not as consistent as I need to be. There are several apps you can get and that might be what I do next. These apps have a full facial workout that will help versus me doing my research and seeing what I can come up with.
All in all, I do like it. I can feel my face coming to life when I do it. I feel the blood flowing and quite honestly, even the app is much cheaper than the injections and fillers you would need to give you that youthful look. If you are interested, just google facial yoga videos and try out a couple. If you like it, then you can go from there. Quite honestly, I think you are going to like the results and how your face looks and feels!
