Dresses for any Occasion
I love any excuse to dress up!!! Thank God in Alabama we have Mardi Gras. During Mardi Gras season, there are usually a couple of opportunities to get dressed up for a fun night out on the town. So I usually think to myself, “where can I go to get something that is different?” when I received an invitation. I like to stand out in a crowd and I like to stray far from what most people would call “typical” in terms of clothing.
When I am invited to something that is a formal occasion, I scour the internet to find something stylish, yet different. Before you judge, I live in a small town, so to be different, many times the internet is where it is at. I remember one time in college for sorority formal, my mom and I were at a store called Kitchin’s and I found the coolest dress. I was so excited, I knew I was going to wear it to formal. Then a sorority sister and I were talking, and she described the same dress!!! Ugh!!! Hers was in a different color scheme, so I wore mine anyway! Who wore it best did not exist back then or we would surely have been featured.
Anyway, most people up north or even in the west have no idea what Mardi Gras is. Mardi Gras typically starts on the 12th day of Christmas and lasts until Ash Wednesday. As a matter of fact, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is called Fat Tuesday because it serves as the last day before someone gives up their favorites for Lent, that they can indulge. It originally started in Mobile, Al and now is a huge celebration in New Orleans. Many smaller towns in the south have their own version of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras celebrations are so fun and they have parades and even Kings and Queens and Courts!!! To be perfectly honest, it is just any excuse to have a party!!!
So, when I was approached by this company to go to their website and pick a dress, the second I saw this dress, I knew it was perfect. I knew I could wear it and I just loved the unique style of it. This dress actually fit true to size, so I was thrilled!!! They have more casual styles, professional and cocktail style dresses, as well as pants, skirts and tops. This is the end of January and I cannot believe it. This has been the longest month!! It has not been a bad month, just super long!! Spring will be here before we know it and then we will be into the long, hot summer!!! For now, everyone stay warm!
