The Eyelash Lift Experience
I don’t have eyelashes. No, I really don’t. I don’t what happened, but I was not blessed with the long, fluttery lashes that so many have.
I have tried everything and I mean everything to have eyelashes! I have tried every new mascara that promises to deliver eyelashes that look fake! I have even tried those that add the extensions to your lashes. My eyes watered the whole time that was on and I looked more like a raccoon by the time the night was over.
Serums and Extensions
Then there were the serums, the products that were guaranteed to make your lashes grow. Only, most of them did not deliver. Then came the eyelash extensions. These were good, but the rules that I had to follow when wearing them. No rubbing, no mascara, no oily eye makeup removers, no sleep masks, and the list goes on! Not to mention the cost, because they had to be replaced every 4-6 weeks at a cost of around $100. That is just not something I could keep up with!
Now, Eyelash Lifts
I had heard of eyelash lifts and I had even seen before and after pictures. I was intrigued, but my not so good experiences made it hard to take the plunge. Then one day, I had Amy Camp from Bare at Tiger Lily spa in Auburn, Al approached me and asked me if she could give me an eyelash lift in exchange for publicity. I said sure. So on we go to my next “eyelash” experiment.
Back in Time
An eyelash lift took me back to the 80’s. Want to know why? Because it is essentially a perm for your lashes.
The above pictures are my lashes post lift. You can see that they slant down a little and quite honestly, they disappear.
The first step was gluing a silicone shield to my skin. The adhesive was kind of like that which is used to apply fake lashes. Adhesive is then applied to the top of the shield and the lashes are combed up to stick to that adhesive. This is where the lashes begin to take shape.
On top the perming solution is applied. The perm solution makes your lashes softer and more moldable to take the desired shape. It was left on for around 10 minutes and then some more was applied and it set for 10 more minutes. Lastly, a setting solution and oil are applied.
A lash lift lasts 6-8 weeks. It is like other hair on your face and body, when it grows, the new ones push out the old ones and then you start back over. You can use mascara, just not waterproof and you have to wait 24 hours. You cannot even get them wet for 24 hours.
It’s a Miracle!!!
When I had lash extensions, I had to be so careful, but that is not the case with the lash lift. I can go about my everyday business just like nothing. I really liked my lash lift a lot. I had eyelashes!!! It has been great for me and so easy to take care of. I highly suggest looking into one if you are having issues with your lashes. They are not cheap, but they are cheaper than extensions and with the low maintenance, it is a win-win.
