Coverups can add Style to the Beach and Pool

Many of us hate to go bathing suit shopping. I know that for me, I still have not lost that ten pounds and I still have those body parts that I want covered versus exposed. We get a bathing suit that we love and one that is super stylish, but most of the time it is covered up. That is why I am so glad that coverups are so stylish nowadays.

I remember when a coverup was an oversized t-shirt. You think I am kidding? I even remember branching out and using a t-shirt dress or fun maxi dress I had. I liked styling up my coverup game. I didn’t feel slouchy when I put on my coverup. I feel like when the sun goes down and I don’t feel like getting dressed, because the grill is fired up and there is nowhere to go. So, I grab my coverup, toss it on with my cute sandals and I can hang out and eat and drink my poolside cocktails without worrying. Those are the kinds of coverups I look for. The kind that if a friend dropped by for a drink and you just spent all day in the sun, you toss it on and you can hang without worry.

So, each year, I have managed to get a new coverup and still love all of the ones I have. I especially love the ones that have tassels and pompoms with them. I think maybe those styles bring out the inner child in me! I like the long ones and the short ones. I have a long one, a caftan, I bought a couple years ago and I had friends make fun of me and call me “Mrs. Roper”, you know from Three’s Company!!! Some people just do not know what style is!

I not only wear my cute sandals with my coverup, but I also love that I can get a stylish beach hat to put with it. When beach hats first came out as stylish, there was not much to choose from and most of them were not cheap. Just like coverups, retailers got wise and now you can get a great beach hat to go with your coverup. Add your best pair of sunglasses and you are ready for anything! Well, anything that has to do with the beach or pool!

As we all head into Memorial Day weekend, be sure to take advantage of the sales. Don’t forget to get a killer coverup to go with that awesome swimsuit. And don’t forget to be nice to the sales people. They are people too and while we are getting ready to sit by the pool all day, they are going to be in the store hopefully making your shopping experience complete.
