How to Avoid Work from Home Scams
When you begin looking for a work from home job, or any job for that matter, you can run across things that are too good to be true. This can happen especially if you are desperate for a job. You see the posts that claim, “you can earn $2000 a week by posting to your social media!”. I so wish this were true!!! Work from home scams tend to be prominent and the more desperate you are, the more you will see them.
When I first started looking for work from home jobs, I was as desperate as you can get. I was a teacher and we made nothing back when I first graduated college. I was trying to live, pay off credit cards, and have some type of social life. It was extremely hard, so I began to look around and try to find anything other than retail. I would see these advertisements and I would reach out and they would say they were for data entry and actually what that meant was, you would be typing the same advertisements. Such a scam!!!
Here are some things you can look for to be sure that what you are applying for is a legitimate job:
You won’t get rich quick – Yes, you might see the promise of thousands for very little work. Run, do not walk from that add! This is not a job!
No money will be required – You will not have to pay anything to work from home! Do not pay a thing! That is not a job if you are required to pay!
Check things out – If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be sure to check out the business, do the research, contact the Better Business Bureau. You do not want to become a scam statistic and with all of the applying you might be doing, it might be easy to get misled. Do not let that happen!
It is hard with all of the promises out there of employment from home when that is what you desire. You just have to be smart and know what you are looking for. Remember, there is no such thing as a free lunch, so if that is how you are feeling, run as fast as you can from it!
